The Love of God

We sing about God’s love.
We read the scriptures about His love.
We hear sermons about His love.
Sometimes we even stop and think about it.
We talk about how good He is to us,
but I do not think we can begin to comprehend His love
until we go through the fire and the testing
and through it all He is there beside us.
He doesn’t leave us.
He doesn’t turn His back on us.
He doesn’t think we are too much of a problem to bother with.
He loves us.

I love this old song that expresses it so well.

     The Love of God
       Frederick M. Lehman

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.
Refrain:
Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure—
The saints’ and angels’ song.
When hoary time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song.
Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.
Frederick Lehman tells us that verse 3 “had been found penciled on the wall
of a patient’s room in an insane asylum after he had been carried to his grave.”

It will soon be Valentine’s Day.  Here is my Valentine to you!

I would love for you to leave a comment.
 Have a wonderful week!

The Christian's Insurance Policy

Wow, did 2015 ever start with a bang!
Already it has been an eventful year with many changes and issues to face.
But the Lord gave me the assurance that He would fight my battles for me.
Isn’t it wonderful that we can trust Him to take care of us.
I am leaning on Psalm 91 for strength.

Psalm 91
1  He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2  I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3  Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4  He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5  Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6  Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7  A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8  Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9  Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10  There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11  For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12  They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13  Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14  Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15  He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16  With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

 A dear friend shared with me that this is called the Christian's Insurance Policy.

Also a song that has been especially meaningful at this time,
written by Fanny Crosby, is “Draw Me Nearer”.

Draw Me Nearer
Fanny J. Crosby, pub.1875

I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.

Refrain:
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.

Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!

There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.

As time is drawing to an end, this is my prayer.

  Sharing a card that I made recently.

Have a wonderful week and please leave a comment.

They are such an encouragement to me.
