A precious friend sent me this picture
that fits so well with my last post.
We serve a faithful God. In His Word He says,
There hath no temptation taken you
but such as is common to man: but
God is faithful,
who will not suffer you to be tempted
above that ye are able;
but will with the temptation also
make a way to escape,
that ye may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13
but such as is common to man: but
God is faithful,
who will not suffer you to be tempted
above that ye are able;
but will with the temptation also
make a way to escape,
that ye may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13
He also tells us to be faithful and promises us a reward.
Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer:
behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison,
that ye may be tried;
and ye shall have tribulation ten days:
be thou faithful
unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Revelation 2:10
behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison,
that ye may be tried;
and ye shall have tribulation ten days:
be thou faithful
unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Revelation 2:10
This picture also brings to mind a song I heard long ago.
Hold on a little longer
Hold on a little stronger
The testings of the Lord are pure gold.
He'll take you through the fire
He'll burn out the dross and mire
Hold on a little longer, Hold on.
Qh sis what a great combination of image, verses and hymn, the reward for being faithful is the well done, thou good abd faithful servant. .. may these words be our goal.
ReplyDeleteThanks again sis, for pointing our eyes ever upwards to our Lord Jesus. Hugs, Shaz.x ♡

DeleteI was reading my devotional by J.C.Ryle this morning and he wrote about the wisdom of asking God each day for an increase of our faith..... A lovely post and wonderful images to fix our focus.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet of you to comment. I appreciate it!
DeleteDo you happen to have the words to the rest of the song (Hold on a little longer...)? I can't find them and can't make them out on the fuzzy recording I have.
ReplyDeleteI had them on an old recording of Lester Roloff's. I will see if I still have it somewhere, but I am not sure that I do. Thanks for asking.
DeleteHere are the words:
ReplyDeleteHold on a Little Longer
You took the hand of Jesus
Stepped out upon His promise
Yet it seems you have trusted in vain.
The answer you have prayed for
It’s on its way and paid for
Hold on a little longer, Hold on.
Chorus
Hold on a little longer
Hold on a little stronger
The testings of the Lord are pure gold.
He’ll take you through the fire
He’ll burn out the dross and mire
Hold on a little longer, Hold on.
You’re watching for His coming
You’re wondering why He’s waiting
Hold on a little longer, Hold on.
Those clouds will soon be bursting
The Son of God descending
Hold on a little longer, Hold on.
