On July 19, 1910,

of Washington proclaimed
the nation’s first “Father’s Day.”
It is not flesh and blood,
but the heart
which makes fathers
and sons.
It's only when you grow up
and step back from him,
or leave him to go on your own,
that you can measure his greatness
and fully appreciate your Father.
Children's children are
the crown of old men;
and the glory of children are
their fathers.
