Jesus Is Crucified
Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus
into the common hall,
and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.
And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet
robe.
And when they had platted a crown of thorns,
they put it upon his head,
and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed
the knee before him,
and mocked him, saying,
Hail, King of the Jews! And they spit
upon him,
and took the reed, and smote him on the
head.
And after that they had mocked him,
they took the robe off from him, and put his
own raiment on him,
and led him away to crucify him.
Matthew 27:27-31
Jesus Is Buried
When the even was come, there came a rich
man of Arimathaea,
named
Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:
He went to Pilate, and begged the body of
Jesus.
Then Pilate commanded the body to be
delivered.
And when Joseph had taken the body,
he
wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
And laid it in his own new tomb,
which he had hewn out in the rock:
and he rolled a great stone to the door of
the sepulchre,
and departed.
And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other
Mary,
sitting over against the sepulchre.
Matthew 27:57-61
The Guard at the Tomb
Now the next day, that followed the day of
the preparation,
the chief priests and Pharisees came
together unto Pilate,
Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver
said,
while he was yet alive,
After three days I will rise again.
Command therefore that the sepulchre be made
sure
until the third day, lest his disciples come
by night,
and steal him away, and say unto the people,
He is risen from the dead:
so the last error shall be worse than the
first.
Pilate said unto them,
Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.
So they went, and made the sepulchre sure,
sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
Matthew 27:62-66
In the end of the sabbath,
as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week,
came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to
see the sepulchre.
And, behold, there was a great earthquake:
for the angel of the Lord descended from
heaven,
and came and rolled back the stone from the
door,
and sat upon it.
His countenance was like lightning,
and his raiment white as snow:
And for fear of him the keepers did shake,
and became as dead men.
And the angel answered and said unto the
women,
Fear
not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
He is
not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come,
see the place where the Lord lay.
And go quickly, and tell his disciples that
he is risen from the dead;
and, behold, he goeth before you into
Galilee;
there
shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
Matthew
28:1-7
The grave could not
hold Him. He is alive today!
Is it not beyond comprehension that God planned all this and did this for us? Is it not unbelieveable but true? It is not beyond anything that one could conceive in one's mind let alone carry it through? Can any other belief give us salvation through grace? Is it not unimaginable to believe the depth of God's love for sinners like us? Yet it is all true, God gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever should believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Thanks dear Marilyn for sharing the Truth of His Word at this amazing time. xxx
