Prayer

 And all things,
whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer,
believing, ye shall receive.
Matthew 21:22

Because you prayed –
God touched our weary bodies with His power
And gave us strength for many a trying hour
In which we might have faltered, had not you,
Our intercessors faithful been, and true.

Because you prayed –
God touched our lips with coals from altar fire,
Gave Spirit-fullness, and did so inspire
That, when we spoke, sin-blinded souls did see;
Sins chains were broken;
Captives were made free.

Because you prayed –
The dwellers in the dark have found the Light;
The glad good-news has banished heathen night;
The message of the Cross, so long delayed,
Has brought them life at last –
Because you prayed.

  1. Dearest Marilyn~ thank you for this beautiful post on prayer. The words of Charles B. Bowser are wonderfully said. Bowing the knee in prayer and going before the throne of grace brings to our hearts a peace which passes all understanding because we know Whom we can trust our requests to be left with. God hears and answers in accordance to His perfect will, praise His Holy Name!

  3. Amen dear sweet friend so sorry I'm so slack in popping over to comment on this, waaaay behind.
    I loved that poem I've never seen it before but powerful and comforting words indeed...
    ... as are the prayers we bring to the throne for others and for ourselves.. our Lords mercies are very great and we cast ourselves upon Him for "He careth for you".
    Thanks for sharing, you're such a blessing to me!
